This survey from Diakonia aims to encourage Christians and church groups to
study the
New
Testament.
Twenty-two studies introduce its books - their authorship, contents and
dating.
Studies also consider the subjects of the New Testament text and canon.
Endnotes,
questions and suggestions are added to encourage discussion and
application.
The studies make use of a number of textbooks.
Follow
the example of the Bereans: Acts 17:11
"They received the message with great eagerness and examined the
scriptures every day .... "

These studies invite Bible
students to study the New Testament books attributed to Luke, the
second generation Christian, who became a missionary companion to the
apostle Paul.
The detailed pages on this Diakonia website will benefit those involved in teaching
and pastoral ministry. They will also help to develop a general study
method and appreciation of
the Lucan writings.
Questions and items for thought and discussion
groups are included. Students are advised to read widely, and make
their own notes. Further
reading is suggested.

This section of the Diakonia website aims to encourage
individual Christians and church groups to study the Word of God. The
24 studies may provide home groups with material for a whole year
or more.
The studies are interesting because they consider charismatic
Christians in the earliest church.
Scriptures are carefully chosen to stimulate thought and discussion.
The practical application of the Word is suggested by questions and
suggestions.
|
This Diakonia site is especially prepared for those called to a
Christian preaching or teaching ministry.
However, it will serve and help any who are called upon to share
thoughts on the Scriptures.
Many churches and chapels in small localities depend on what is termed
'lay' ministry.
The sections deal with the preacher's call, sermon appreciation, sermon
preparation and construction, sermon introduction, conclusion and
appropriate use of illustrations.
Standing before a congregation can be an intimidating experience -
positive advice is given that will feed confidence.
There is miuch more of practical application for all aspiring and even
more experienced preachers of the Word of God.
